How do I get started?
Create a free account at app.getroost.io or download the iOS app. No credit card needed — the free plan is free forever.
What is the Vault?
The Vault is where you store your important household information: insurance policies, utilities, subscriptions, vehicles, appliances, and contacts. Each item has fields for the details you need in an emergency — policy numbers, who to call, what to do first.
What does "If X happens" mean?
Every item in your Vault has an emergency section called "If X happens". Fill it in once with the critical details — emergency number, policy reference, first steps — and it's there when you need it fast.
How do I share with my household?
Upgrade to Pro, then go to Settings and create a household. Invite your partner or housemates by email. Once they accept, you can share any vault item, list, or routine with your entire household — or with specific people.
What kinds of lists can I create?
Shopping, Films, TV Shows, Books, Records, Restaurants, Places to Visit, Gift Ideas, Recipes, Wines, and Custom lists. Film and book lists automatically fetch cover art.
What are Routines?
Routines are recurring reminders for household tasks. Set how often something needs doing — boiler service every 12 months, smoke alarm batteries every 6 months — and Roost tracks when it is due and flags it when it is overdue.
Is my data private?
Personal items are end-to-end encrypted — only you can read them. Shared items use server-side encryption with row-level security, so only the people you share with can access them.
What is included in the free plan?
The free plan includes up to 10 items per section (Vault, Lists, Routines), full access to If X happens guides, lists with cover art, household sharing so you can invite your partner or housemates, and both the iOS app and web app. It is always free — no card required.
What does Pro include?
Pro removes the 10 item per section limit — you get unlimited items across Vault, Lists and Routines. Everything else, including household sharing, is included on the free plan. Pro is £3.99/month or £24.99/year.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
You can cancel any time from your account settings. Your Pro access continues until the end of your billing period.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet. The iOS app is live now. Android, Mac and Windows apps are planned.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings in the app, scroll to the bottom, and select Delete account. This permanently removes all your data.
